Customizing BareED

These information I do provide here, should be useful for the case you want or are in the need to customize BareED.

BareED's executable load-file can be placed where ever you want - and it's not necessary to enclose the icon of BareED - then BareED acts like a simple text editor. Without the icon file, BareED will not have any clue how it shall be customized - and runs with the initial, default setting - and that's exactly what I do not recommend!
So, at least, you should store "BareED" (the executable) and its icon ("BareED.icon") together where ever you want.
Look at BareED's tool-types and customize them to your liking. In BareED's guide you'll find under "Settings and Preferences" the explanations for these tool-types.

If you like to have the "icon panel" enabled (Button Interface), you will have to store the file "Button.cfg" where you have already stored BareED. The "icon panel" itself requires a directory where the "icon images" can be fetched from - and normally, all you need to do is to copy this directory (called knobs or glow_knobs) to the same place, where BareED resides - because by default, the whole BareED-archive comes with relative paths.

Another configuration file is "Key.cfg". It's used to attach to function-keys strings which will be inserted into the current text if the user hits one of the defined keys. The file "Key.cfg" should be also putted next to BareED.

If you like to run ARexx macro commands, simply copy the "Rexx" drawer to the same location where BareED already has been stored.

Let's assume you would like to place BareED in "Work:Tools/TextEditors/"

Then the layout you should use is:

"Work:Tools/TextEditors/BareED"

"Work:Tools/TextEditors/BareED.info"

"Work:Tools/TextEditors/BareED.cfg"

"Work:Tools/TextEditors/Key.cfg"

"Work:Tools/TextEditors/glow_knobs/"

"Work:Tools/TextEditors/arexx/"

And if you like to enable the plug-ins:

"Work:Tools/TextEditors/BareED"

"Work:Tools/TextEditors/BareED.info"

"Work:Tools/TextEditors/BareED.cfg"

"Work:Tools/TextEditors/Key.cfg"

"Work:Tools/TextEditors/glow_knobs/"

"Work:Tools/TextEditors/arexx/"
*
"Work:Tools/TextEditors/dac/"
*
"Work:Tools/TextEditors/dac/THL ..."
*
"Work:Tools/TextEditors/dac/Dump"
*
"Work:Tools/TextEditors/dac/data/"

If you want to have the catalogues available:

"Work:Tools/TextEditors/BareED"

"Work:Tools/TextEditors/BareED.info"

"Work:Tools/TextEditors/BareED.cfg"

"Work:Tools/TextEditors/Key.cfg"

"Work:Tools/TextEditors/glow_knobs/"

"Work:Tools/TextEditors/arexx/"

"Work:Tools/TextEditors/dac/"

"Work:Tools/TextEditors/dac/THL ..."

"Work:Tools/TextEditors/dac/Dump"

"Work:Tools/TextEditors/dac/data/"
*
"Work:Tools/TextEditors/catalogs/"
*
"Work:Tools/TextEditors/catalogs/français/"
*
"Work:Tools/TextEditors/catalogs/français/bareed.catolog"

The easiest way to customize BareED is to unpack the "LHA" archive of BareED at any place of your choice and then modifying the appropriate tool-types.
